Standard statement

The Agency has a written directive that requires that citizen complaints and Internal Investigation records be kept secure and only accessible by authorized personnel.

Each bullet must stand alone when establishing compliance, with proofs identified for every lettered requirement.

  1. a.Discussion:
  2. b.The requirement that records be kept secure includes being secure from unauthorized access by agency employees. This requires the records to be kept in locked cabinets or rooms with only limited access by designated individuals.
  3. c.The written directive must clearly state that the records will be maintained in a secure manner.
  4. d.The Public Information Act regulates Public Information retention and public access. It requires the agency to maintain any record created by the agency in accordance with records retention schedules adopted by the governmental unit.
