Standard statement

The agency shall have a written directive governing pursuit of motor vehicles, to include:

  1. a.evaluating the circumstances;
  2. b.initiating officer’s responsibilities;
  3. c.designating secondary unit’s responsibilities;
  4. d.specifying roles and restrictions pertinent to marked, unmarked, or other types of police vehicles involvement in the pursuit;
  5. e.assigning dispatcher’s responsibilities;
  6. f.describing supervisor’s responsibilities;
  7. g.using forcible stopping/roadblocks including circumstances authorizing use;
  8. h.specifying when to terminate pursuit;
  9. i.engaging in inter-and intra-jurisdictional pursuits involving personnel from the agency and/or other jurisdictions;
  10. j.detailing a procedure for reporting and an administrative review of the pursuit;
