Standard statement

The agency shall have a written directive that establishes steps to be followed in conducting follow-up investigations to include at a minimum:

Each bullet must stand alone when establishing compliance, with proofs identified for every lettered requirement.

  1. a.reviewing and analyzing all previous reports prepared in the preliminary phase, departmental records, and results from laboratory examinations;
  2. b.conducting additional interviews and interrogations;
  3. c.seeking additional information from uniformed officers, informants, etc.;
  4. d.planning, organizing, conducting searches, and collecting physical evidence;
  5. e.identifying and apprehending suspects;
  6. f.determining involvement of suspects in other crimes;
  7. g.checking suspects’ criminal histories; and
  8. h.preparing cases for court presentation.
